krewedelusion

On January 30, 2010, just days before a historic mayoral election, krewedelusion, The Big Easy's newest satirical parade, will roll through the streets of the French Quarter. The new krewe was formed with the mission to save the Universe, beginning at its center, New Orleans. Its Captain, Oscar Diggs, announced that Harry Shearer will be appointed to lead the festivities, the city of New Orleans, and everything else from here on in. "Where most Krewes appoint royalty to govern the pomp and circumstance of parades and balls, and most of our democratically elected leaders limit their administrations to similar fundraising endeavors," said Krewe Captain Oscar Diggs, "krewedelusion intends to truly empower its leader to govern. Govern everything. Period. Case closed."

Keeping its annual theme a secret until the day of their parade, krewedelusion is the root organization from which a myriad of small upstart and existing parading clubs will blossom. "If you ever wanted to start your own satirical krewe, this is the year to do it and the club to do it with," said Captain Diggs. "We're just planting the seeds this year." One such blossoming organization is composed of those new New Orleanians who came to help with our recovery process, fell in love with our city and stayed. Dubbed, "The AlKreweists," these do-gooders will make their Carnival debut this year among many other fledgling groups such as the "Krewe of Bananas".
