The Krewe of Muses will present a 26 float procession with 768 riders in 2008.

The Krewe of Muses always has exciting and unique throws including old favorites like the shoe bracelet (in metallic silver, and fuchsia), the shoe bead of the year (a roller skate), the theme bead (a light-up strobe), a metallic soccer ball, an updated light-up slap bracelet, the backpack in a new pattern, can huggies and the ever-fabulous plush spear, in leopard and zebra.

Look for new throws this year to include the Rubik's cube bead, the fabulous light-up vortex, a high heeled lip gloss on a bead, mirrored disco balls on a bead, a light-up crystal heart necklace, huge, "frat boy" beads, a girlie glitter powder puff, a light-up lava lamp keychain, rhinestone body jewels and new and improved Krewe beads, pearls and medallions.

Returning this year is the Muses beaded headband from several years ago. Of course always be on the lookout for The Krewe of Muses Famous Hand-Decorated Glitter Shoes.

The spirit of Muses still thrives!

" Happy are they whom the Muses love." Hesiod

Muses is an all-female Krewe which has put on award-winning displays since beginning in 2000. Throws are of a definite feminine nature and include mirrors, shoes, combs, purses and other fun “girlie” goodies.

The Muses are the Greek goddesses who presided over the arts and sciences. They were believed to inspire artists, especially poets, philosophers and musicians. Daughters of Zeus, king of the gods, and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, they were born at the foot of Mount Olympus in Pieria. Their name denotes 'memory' or 'a reminder', since early poets had no books to read from and thus relied on memory alone.

The number of Muses varies through history. Initially there was only one, and later there is mention of three: Melete, Mneme, and Aoede. Ultimately there become nine muses: Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania. These nine are the muses that our Krewe celebrates. Each is associated with a particular domain. Each year They select a muse and an “honorary muse” from our community in that domain.
